Chandigarh: Punjab Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by seven runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the PCA Stadium here on Saturday.
Due to rain in the last leg of the match, the match had to be stopped and Punjab Kings were declared the winners in the decision made as per the DLS (Duck Worth Lewis) rules. Arshdeep Singh, a Punjab Kings bowler and a resident of Kharar, enthralled the audience with his superb bowling.
He took three crucial wickets for KKR for 19 runs in just three overs. Punjab scored 191 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders were 146 for the loss of seven wickets in 16 overs by the time the match was stopped due to rain. Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and invited The Punjab Kings team to bat first.
Punjab’s Prabhsimran and captain Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings. Prabhsimran (23 off 12 balls), Shikhar Dhawan (40 off 29 balls), B.R. Rahman (40 off 29 balls) were the top scorers. Rajapaksa (50 off 31 balls), Jitesh Sharma (21 off 11 balls) and Sikandar Raza (16 off 13 balls) were dismissed. Sam Curran (26 off 17 balls) and Shah Rukh Khan (11 off 7 balls) remained unbeaten.
