Chandigarh: IPS Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota has been appointed Punjab officiating Director General of Police on Saturday. The 1986-batch IPS officer Sidharth Chattopadhyaya, 1987-batch officer VK Bhawra and 1988-batch officer Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota were in contention for the post.
The move came after DGP Dinkar Gupta on Thursday applied for leave amid the ongoing stalemate-like situation over the appointment of the new head of the police force.
