Iran burns fire over hijab protests, 92 killed in protest over Mahsa Amini’s death

New Delhi: The whole of Iran is burning in the fire of protest over hijab. After the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody, the whole situation has changed, at least 92 people have died so far in the protests that started since Mahsa’s death. Media reports have presented this figure citing Norway’s Iran Human Rights (IHR) NGO.

“It is the responsibility of the international community to investigate this crime and further to prevent such crimes in the Islamic Republic,” IHR Director Mahmoud Amiri Moghadddam was quoted as saying by a National News. The protests, which began after The Death of Mahsa Amini on September 16, have now reached the third week. According to new reports, there was a widespread rally and strike in the Kurdish region of the country on Saturday.

Biggest protest since 2019

The protests following the custodial death of Kurdistan’s Mahsa Amini in Moral Police in Iran are the biggest protests since 2019. Dozens of people have died in this protest. 83 people have been confirmed dead in this protest. Opposition to Amini’s death has been seen not only in Iran but in London, Rome, Madrid and many Western countries.

Violent clashes between protesters and police

Violent clashes were witnessed between protesters and police in southeastern Iran. According to a report in Voice of America (VOA), the clash took place when members of the Sunni community in Iran left prayers at the Makki Mosque.

People who came to offer namaz took part in the protest against the government at the nearby police station and pelted stones. In response, the police opened fire.
