Maharashtra: Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has sought information about the government’s decisions on the complaint of leader of opposition in the state Pravin Darekar.
Santosh Kumar, principal secretary to the governor, said the governor has written to the chief secretary of the state asking him to give complete details of all government proposals (GR) and circulars issued by the state government from June 22-24.
The opposition has alleged that the government, even after being in a minority, took “indiscriminate” decisions and ordered the release of hundreds of crores of rupees.
After issuing government orders from departments controlled by the Congress Party (NCP), an ally in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, and the Congress, to release hundreds of crores of rupees for various developmental works from June 22-24, the Governor’s office directed them to provide information.
According to the letter issued by the Governor’s office, “The Governor has asked to provide “full background information” about the GR, circulars issued by the state government on June 22-24.
According to the information received, the leader of the opposition in the state, Pravin Darekar, had written a letter to the governor demanding an inquiry into the decisions. The opposition alleges that how the government, which is running in a minority, is taking such a decision. Pravin Darekar alleged that the government is taking decisions in a hurry.
The political crisis in Maharashtra has been going on for more than a week and the opposition has alleged that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state is in a minority. More than 36 Shiv Sena MLAs, led by Eknath Shinde, have rebelled. At present, all these MLAs are staying in Guwahati. At the same time, Shivesana claims that many of the rebel MLAs are in touch with her.
