Winnipeg: Mayoral candidate Rana Bokhari has promised to increase annual spending from $45 million to $60 million to replace combined sewers pipes for sewage and stormwater.
Lie below older parts of Winnipeg, these combined sewers, runoff from the surface and sewage from homes and businesses, however, these need repair while some needs immediate replacement as after heavy rains pipes exceed the capacity and led to overflows into the city’s rivers.
Bokhari said she is committed to reduce sewer overflows and more investment will be made to improve civic issues.
