New York: Indian-American Punjabi Mickey Hothi has been unanimously elected mayor of Lodi city in northern California. Along with this, Mickey Hothi, whose parents are from India, has become the first Sikh to occupy the highest place in the history of america’s city.
“Honoured to be sworn in as the 117th Mayor of lodi city,” Mickey Hothi tweeted on Friday.
After becoming mayor, his main job will be to lead the meetings of the Common Council and serve as the executive officer of the city.
The city’s local newspaper Lodi Times quoted the mayor as saying that it is a safe city. This city is home to good people, good education, great culture and hard working people.
Indian-origin Punjabi Mickey Hothi graduated from Toke High School in 2008. For the first time in November 2020, Lodi was elected to the Municipal Council from District 5.
