MLA T Raja Singh suspended by the BJP for his controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad

New Delhi: BJP MLA T Raja Singh has been suspended from the party. He made controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad. The BJP has also issued a show cause notice to Raja and sought a reply in 10 days.

In the notice, he has been asked why you should not be expelled from the party. Earlier, Raja was arrested by the police in Hyderabad for making controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad.

The BJP MLA had released a video on Monday criticizing stand-up comedian Munawwar Farooqui. In this video, he is allegedly seen making controversial remarks against a particular religion. Farooqui recently performed at an event in the city.

 

A protest march demanding arrest

Demanding the arrest of the BJP leader, people demonstrated in several parts of Hyderabad on Monday night. Sources in the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) said that several MLAs of the party and councilors of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation reached the police stations, demonstrated there and demanded strict action against Raja Singh.

Police said that complaints have been lodged against Singh in several police stations. Dabirpur Police Station Inspector G Koteswara Rao said he has received a complaint against Raja Singh, alleging that the BJP MLA has made derogatory remarks against a particular religion.

According to Rao, Singh has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, committing willful and malicious acts, insulting religion and religious beliefs and outraging religious feelings of any class. An FIR has been registered on charges of causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

 

What did T Raja Singh say?

Singh, the MLA from Goshamahal, said during his arrest that the social media site on which he had shared his video had removed it and that he would upload the “second part” of the video clip after his release.

Singh said, “They removed my video from YouTube. I don’t know what the police are going to do. Will definitely upload the second part of the video when I am released. I am doing this for religion. I am ready to die for the sake of religion.”
