Washington: Covid-19 vaccine maker Moderna has filed a lawsuit against Pfizer and German drugmaker BioNTech for patent infringement over Covid-19 vaccine.

Moderna said on Friday that Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine violates the patent for which Moderna submitted its warning vaccines several years ago to protect Spikewax’s technology.

The company has filed a lawsuit in the US federal court and a court in Germany. A Pfizer spokeswoman declined to comment, saying the company had not received a copy of the lawsuit. Moderna and Pfizer’s two-dose anti-coronavirus vaccines contain mRNA technology has been used.

Moderna Chief Executive Officer Stephen Bansal said in a statement that the company had developed this technology and invested billions of dollars for it. The company said it believes that the vaccines of rival companies violate the patents for which Moderna applied between 2010 and 2016.
