Surrey: Senior leader and long-time Liberal MP from Surrey Sukh Dhaliwal has entered the fray to contest mayor’s elections under a new slate called United Surrey.

Dhaliwal’s announcement has made the contest a multi-corner for top job in B.C’s second largest city official as the ex-MP Jinny Sims (Surrey Forward), Coun. Brenda Locke (Surrey Connect) and incumbent mayor Dough McCallum (Safe Surrey Coalition), are already in the race for mayoral election.

Dhaliwal, after months of speculation, made his candidature officials in a press conference in Surrey on Monday.

Introducing his team, Dhaliwal has also sought a council seat in the October 15 polls for members including Julie Tapley, former Surrey NDP MP Jasbir Sandhu, Becky Zhou and Jeff Bridge.
