Mulayam Singh Yadav passes away, PM among senior politics express condolences

New Delhi: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on Monday at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. At the same time, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Akhilesh Yadav has given the first reaction on the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Akhilesh Yadav’s reaction to the SP patron’s death was shared by the SP on its Twitter. “My respected father and everyone’s leader are no more,” he wrote, while SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away at Medanta Hospital at around 8.16 am on Monday. This was also confirmed by his son Akhilesh Yadav through a tweet.

Yadav will be cremated in Saifai at 3 pm on Monday. Home Minister Amit Shah reached Medanta to pay his last respects to his body.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I had many interactions with Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji when we served as Chief Ministers of our respective states. The close association continued and I always looked forward to hearing his views. His demise pains me. Condolences to his family and lakhs of supporters. Om Shanti.”

Smriti Irani said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Samajwadi Party founder and former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav. He will be remembered for his struggle to protect democracy during the Emergency and for his significant contribution to Indian politics. May God give peace to the pious and strength to the bereaved family. Om shanti.”
