Musical evening to mark celebration of Dastaan-e-Shahadat

Sri Chamkaur Sahib: Marking the holy occasion of the 552nd Prakash Purb of Pehli Patshahi Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the dedication of the dream project Dastaan e Shahadat of the Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to the people, the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department on Friday organized a musical evening here.

In his address on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that although the project which began in 2004 faced many difficulties but today he is very elated that he has finally been successful in his endeavour to preserve the unique Battle of Chamkaur for the sake of future generations.

The Chief Minister further pointed out that the main motive behind this musical evening is to present the playback singers, music directors, screenplay writers, and others instrumental in bringing alive the concept besides history depicted in the galleries, before the people and honour them. He also divulged that the melodious and spiritual voices of Bollywood singers Sukhwinder Singh, Harshdeep Kaur, Jaspinder Narula and Durga Rangila, Manjider Mani and Late Diljan have brought these galleries to life in a very effective manner. All these were honoured with the title of ‘Rajagayak’. Apart from these, Background Music Composer Monti Sharma (Nephew of Pyare Lal), Mumbai based actor Brownie who gave voice over of Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur, Screenplay Writer of the project and noted poet Surjit Patar, Designer Amandeep Behl, Background voice giving Radio Jockey Jaswinder Jassi, Tinu Sharma, Vikas Parashar, Poorva Sharma, Surjan Singh, Ritesh Rishi and Chief Architect Punjab Sapna were also present. The parents of late singer Diljan were also honoured as was Satinder Satti.

The Chief Minister further mentioned that he would forever remain indebted to the land of Martyrs Sri Chamkaur Sahib which has returned him as an MLA not once but thrice. “The honour of serving this holy land and the blessings of the people have elevated me to the Chief Ministership to serve the entire Punjabi community”, added Channi. He vowed to always maintain the sacred trust and confidence in him by the people and promised at this historical soil not to sit quietly until every section and every individual of the State is prosperous and visibly happy.
