Navjot Sidhu, other Congress leaders detained on Haryana border

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu and other party leaders have been detained by police at Saharanpur on the Haryana-UP border.

Later, they were taken to Sarsawa Police Station by the UP Police. Congress leaders were demanding arrest of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra’s son for allegedly mowing down farmers in Uttar Pradesh.

Sidhu said that he is ready to sacrifice his life for cause of farmers and said he would go on hunger strike if action has not been taken against him by Friday.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa and Cabinet Ministers Pargat Singh, and Vijay Inder Singla, besides former ministers Balbir Singh Sidhu, Gurpreet Kangar and Sunder Shyam Arora were among the leaders present.Earlier, CM Charanjit Singh Channi had gone to Lakhimpur Kheri along with Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
