Navjot Sidhu surrenders before court after 1 year jail by Supreme Court in road rage case

Chandigarh: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu finally surrendered in a Patiala court today afternoon.

Sidhu surrendered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Amit Malhan. Earlier

Sidhu had approached the apex court citing ill health and sought a week of time to surrender but the court ruled out his plea. Therefore, he has to surrender before the Patiala court today itself.

Security arrangements were made outside the court by the Patiala police over the surrender of Navjot Sidhu.

No one except Sidhu and the lawyers were allowed inside the court.

Similarly, police force is also deployed near Navjot Sidhu’s house in Yadvindera Colony. Sidhu had earlier sought a few weeks’ time from the Supreme Court to surrender for the one-year jail term awarded in the 1988 ‘road rage’ case citing ill-health.
