New Delhi: Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has made it to the final of the Javelin Throw event of the World Athletics Championship for the first time.
He secured a ticket to the final by throwing a javelin of 88.39m in the first atempt of the group round of the ongoing championships in the US. This was the third best performance of the 24-year-old Neeraj. The final round will begin at 7.05 am Indian time on Sunday.
In the men’s javelin throw event of the World Championships, the players were placed in two groups. The best-12 players from these two groups were to get a place in the final. A scale of 83.50 meters was fixed for automatic qualification. Neeraj crossed this mark in his very first atempt and entered the final. He was placed in Group-A.
