Washington: Republican Indian-origin presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Thursday lashed out at President Joe Biden over his annual budget proposals. Haley said the budget proposal is socialist, which is “devastating for the United States.” “We must move people from the path of welfare to work, but Joe Biden is pushing for the welfare of people without the need to do the work,” Haley said after Biden presented the 6.9 trillion budget.

In her annual budget, Biden has introduced several social welfare measures and raised taxes on the rich. In an interview, Haley said, “I think Biden is a very socialist president. He believes in spending everyone’s money. His answer to everything is to increase taxes.”

In response to a question, she said, “We need to be realistic. We have a debt of USD 31 trillion. We are borrowing money to pay interest. This is not a sustainable solution. There is a spending problem in Washington DC, which we need to end.”

“Biden should have said first that we’re going to take back the $500 billion in non-spent money allocated to combat COVID-19,” Haley said.
