Ottawa: Covid-19 restrictions imposed due to the outbreak of corona infection in Canada are now being lifted. The government has announced that now people will not need to wear masks in flights and in trains.
Transport Canada said that the current rules related to masks will be travellers from October 1 will now be able to travel without masks in flights and trains besides undergoing pre- or on-arrival testing.
Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said, “We are capable of doing that. Government officials also confirmed that covid restrictions will also be exempted later this month, who will travel from other countries to Canada. People coming from outside will no longer need corona vaccination to enter Canada.
However, the month is not over yet, so like the US, it is necessary to get vaccinated in Canada when it comes from abroad. There is no hope of changing the rules in the US at the moment.
Travel industry to get a boost
Foreign travelers entering Canada will now have to undergo a corona test on arrival and stay in quarantine for 14-days.
The government’s move will boost Canada’s travel industry, which is booming months after a long pandemic. The government said that the decision to remove restrictions on travel has been taken in view of the vaccination rate in the country. Apart from this, the new corona vaccine and treatment of infection has also come and the peak of the epidemic in the country has also passed. In view of all this, a decision is being taken to end the restrictions.
Trudeau had approved the proposal
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week approved a proposal to eliminate the need for people entering the country from September 30 to get the Covid vaccine.
As per the existing norms, foreign passengers entering Canada will have to undergo corona test. Apart from this, they will also have to stay in quarantine for 14 days if they have not taken the Covid vaccine.
