Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that he is not planning to send troops to clear protesters from the nation’s capital.
Ruling out any imminent plan of sending forces or military intervention to remove demonstration, Trudeau said “not in the cards right now”.
Thousands of protesters including truckers continued with their agitation against vaccine mandates and other Covid restrictions in the Ottawa for over a week, deliberately blocking traffic around Parliament Hill.
Earlier, Trudeau said that his government is not intimidated by the protests.
“I know this pandemic is frustrating. It’s frustrating that, after two years, we’re not done fighting COVID-19. But over the past few days, Canadians have been shocked – and, frankly, disgusted – by the behaviour displayed by some people protesting in our nation’s capital, he added.
