Ontario: In Ontario, the number of children under the age of five getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is even lower than the figure that experts expected of the minority as about only about 6% of eligible children under 5 years got the shot.

Covid-19 vaccine shots have been available for children below five years of age for over two months, but so far only six per cent of children in this age group have received the first dose. Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore says the figures are much lower than the number of children expected to get vaccinated during this period.

In an interview, he said that he wants parents to get as many vaccines as possible to children in the age group of six to four years.

Rayavat Deonandan, an epidemiologist and associate professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa, said, “We were afraid that these figures would be low, but they did not know that they would be so low. “Many people have the misconception that the pandemic is over and even if children get COVID-19, they don’t get very sick.
