Ontario: Premier Doug Ford said On Wednesday that he was encouraging Ontarians to wear masks in situations in a less safe place. But he clarified that it is not any indication of the re-imposition of mask norms in the province.
Ford made the remarks while announcing the building of the new highway near Bradford on Wednesday morning.
When he was asked whether the province was going to implement the rules related to masks again in schools, Ford said that he has always listen to the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore and masks must be used if needed.
Ford also encouraged people to take flu shots and take their COVID-19 booster shots. “All this is very important to stay safe,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that in view of the warning given by the doctors about the increase in respiratory diseases due to the opening of schools and due to indoor stay during the winter season, questions were being raised about making masks mandatory in schools again.
Meanwhile, at a meeting of Toronto’s board of health held on Tuesday, medical officer of health Eileen Patricia de Villa said the city was following provincial guidelines on masks, but said they were ready to re-enforce mask rules if the situation worsened.
