Chandigarh: After the funeral of Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat, Goa Police said that she was forcibly given drugs in Goa. This drug was given by his PA Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder. Both of them themselves confessed this to the Goa Police. Both have been arrested.
According to Goa DGP Jaspal Singh, Sudhir and Sukhwinder have confessed that they drugged Sonali forcibly on the night of 22 August. They were given chemicals by mixing them in liquid. When Sonali’s health deteriorated due to drug overdose, both took her to the washroom and sat in the washroom for two hours.
Daughter lit fire with cousin
Sonali Phogat was cremated in Hisar at 12.30 pm on Friday. His daughter Yashodhara, along with her cousin, lit fire on her. During this, people kept raising slogans of ‘Sonali amar rahe’ and ‘Sonali’s killers should be hanged’. A few days ago, Kuldeep Bishnoi, who left the Congress and joined the BJP, reached the crematorium to pay tribute to Sonali. Hisar Municipal Corporation Mayor Gautam Sardana, former minister Sampat Singh, besides Naveen Jaihind also reached the crematorium to pay tribute to Sonali.
Earlier, at around 10.15 am, Sonali’s body was brought from the mortuary of Hisar Civil Hospital to her Dhandur farm house for the last glimpse. After the rituals at the farm house, his last journey left for Rishi Nagar cremation ground. During this, Sonali’s only daughter Yashodhara shouldered her body. As a mark of respect, a BJP flag was placed on Sonali’s body.
Haryana government has no objection to CBI probe
Haryana CM Manohar Lal has said that if Sonali’s family demands in writing, then the state government will definitely conduct a CBI inquiry into her death. The government has no objection in conducting an inquiry. Sonali’s family has been demanding a CBI inquiry into this case since day one. The family has said that it does not believe in the investigation by the Goa Police.
