Patna: In a bizarre incident, a Bihar resident, who had received Rs 5.5 lakh in his account by a bank error, refused to return the money citing that ‘the money was transferred by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’.
Ranjit Das, a native of Bakhtiyarpur village in Khagaria district had received the money in March and he reportedly spent all the money when the bank found about the error they approached him and despite several notices, he had not returned the money to the Gramin Bank in Khagaria.
“I was jubilant to receive money and thought that it was the first installment of PM Modi’s promised Rs 15 lakh money. I had spent all the money and I cannot return it to the bank now,” he told the police.
Meanwhile, Mansi Station House Officer Deepak Kumar said that have arrested Das on the complaint filed by the manager of the bank and the further investigation is underway.
