New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Himachal Pradesh today. In Una, the Prime Minister will flag off the Vande Bharat Express from Una Himachal Railway Station. Later, at a public function, the Prime Minister will dedicate IIIT Una to the nation and lay the foundation stone of a bulk drug park in Una. Subsequently, at a public function in Chamba, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of two hydropower projects and launch the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III in Himachal Pradesh.

To bring self-reliance in the pharmaceuticals sector, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a bulk drug park at Haroli in Una district which will be built at a cost of more than Rs 1900 crore.

Park API will help reduce dependence on imports. It is expected to attract investment of about Rs 10,000 crore and will provide employment to over 20,000 people. It will also boost economic activities in the region.

Modi will dedicate the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Una to the nation. Its foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in 2017. At present, more than 530 students are studying in this institute.

He also flag off the new Vande Bharat Express. This will be the fourth Vande Bharat train to be introduced in the country from Amb Andaura to New Delhi and is an upgraded version compared to earlier, which is much lighter and capable of reaching higher speeds in a shorter period. It runs 100 km/h in just 52 seconds.

Meanwhile, The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for two hydropower projects – the 48 MW Chhanju-III hydropower project and the 30 MW Devthal Chanju hydropower project. The two projects will generate 270 million units of electricity annually and these projects are expected to generate an annual revenue of around Rs 110 crore to Himachal Pradesh.
