Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford met at Queen’s Park today to discuss the current pressures on the health care system, housing and other crucial issues.
The meeting came after the announcement of new federal investments in housing made by the Prime Minister in Kitchener, Ontario earlier in the day, the two leaders spoke about the need for further collaboration on housing.
After the meeting, PM Trudeau said that Doug Ford was not as aware of Canada’s international obligations to asylum seekers as he must be.
Earlier, both leaders discussed investments proposed in Budget 2022 to help put Canada on a path to double housing construction and meet Canadians’ housing needs over the next decade including launching a new Housing Accelerator Fund to incentivize cities.
The leaders discussed solutions to tackle the housing crisis, including Ontario’s progress on building 1.5 million homes over 10 years.
