Ontario: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended Thursday night’s vigil in memory of the two children died after being hit by a city bus in the daycare building in Laval, Quebec.

Several children were also injured in the accident, which took place in the suburb north of Montreal, and the PM termed the incident “beyond imagination”.

“We are with the families in this hour of grief,” he said. Trudeau said, “We are grateful to the First Responders for the hero’s work they did. But we can’t even imagine what they saw at that time and the struggle they went through.”

Two four-year-olds were killed after a city bus collided in front of The Garderie Educative Sainte-Rose Daycare at 8:30 a.m. Six other children were taken to the hospital in an injured condition.

Soon after the accident, the 51-year-old bus driver Pierre Ny St-Amand, was arrested and charged with two first-degree murder and seven counts of causing the accident.

Laval mayor Stéphane Boyer was also present with the Prime Minister at the community gathering. Meanwhile, a two-minute silence was observed on the entrance of the church in memory of the deceased children and floral tributes were paid to them.

Boyer and Trudeau shared their grief with the families as dozens of people gathered outside the church despite the blizzard.
