Chandigarh: The political ruckus has intensified over the liquor policy of Punjab. The State Congress will meet the Governor today to examine the Punjab Excise Policy-2022. It will be headed by Punjab President Amarinder Raja Warring.

Earlier, the Akali Dal has also called the liquor policy a scam of 500 crores. The Akali leaders led by Chief Sukhbir Badal met the Governor. He demanded investigation from CBI and ED.

Opponents argue that Delhi and Punjab have the same policy. CBI registered a case against it in Delhi in which Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has also been nominated. However, the Delhi government has withdrawn this policy. Opponents are saying that when there was an alleged lapse in this policy, then it should be investigated in Punjab also.

Sukhbir Badal said that Delhi and Punjab excise policy was formulated by the same team. Earlier there were 100 wholesalers of liquor in Punjab. Contractors used to buy cheap liquor from their choice. AAP government made only 2 wholesalers. They also have different brands. The condition of turnover of 30 crores in 3 consecutive years for the wholesaler was thrown out of the local businessmen of Punjab. Those who are wholesalers in Delhi, they have this job in Punjab also.
