Population with average age of 44 years were infected more in third COVID wave: Centre

New Delhi: The young population having an age of 44 years was infected more during the Omicron wave as compared to previous wave in the country.

In the previous waves, the average age of population infected was 55 years, health ministry said.

Meanwhile, country registered 1.49 lakh new Covid cases in the last 24 hours.

However, in a relief, it was 13% lower than yesterday’s data The positivity rate fell to 9.2%.

The postive cases rate in 34 states and union territories, including Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, are witnessing a decline in coronavirus cases but it is still recording a rise in Kerala and Mizoram states.

The country has an active caseload of 14,35,569 while 2,46,674 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking total recoveries in India to 4,00,17,088. The death count from COVID-19 crossed 500,000

The country under its nationwide vaccination drive, 167.87 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far.
