Patiala: A 33-year-old inmate lodged at Nabha’s district jail was stabbed to death by another inmate, police said on Friday.
Deceased was identified as Sukhjinder Singh, a resident of Sirhind, who was held in drug case.
After receiving information from the jail authorities, police rushed to the jail and registered a case under section 302 (murder) against inmate identified as Sonu of Batala in Gurdaspur district who was lodged in the same jail in NDPS act.
Police said that both victim and accused were lodged in the same barrack and had heated arguments over sharing space for the sleeping on Thursday evening and accused attacked him with a spoon leading to his death.
