Chandigarh: Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara Committee and other Sikh organisations are holding a massive protest demanding the release of Sikh prisoners on the joint border of Mohali-Chandigarh.
Taking a serious view of the recent incident on the border of Chandigarh, the Mohali administration has stepped up security and now four large tippers filled with sand along with two bullet proof vehicle have also been erected at the border so that Sikhs do not enter Chandigarh by breaking the barricades during the protest.
On Monday, a 31-member jatha led by Avtar Singh Phoolewal tried to march towards the official residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, but the UT Police stopped them from proceeding further, due to which they sat on a dharna at the Chandigarh border.
