Chandigarh: The Punjab government has announced a two-hour window for bursting of pollution-free firecrackers in the state on the occasion of Diwali and Gurpurab. These orders will be implemented by the respective Deputy Commissioners and district police on the recommendation of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB). Bursting of firecrackers is allowed from 8 pm to 10 pm on October 24 (Diwali), while on November 8 (Gurpurab), bursting of firecrackers is allowed from 4 am to 5 am and from 9 pm to 10 pm.
Bursting of firecrackers is allowed from 11.55 pm to 12.30 pm on December 25 (Christmas) and from 11.55 pm to 12.30 pm in view of the arrival of the New Year on December 31. Apart from this, only pollution-free firecrackers approved by the court are allowed in all the districts of Punjab.
