Punjab-based members of kidnapped family in California in shock

Hoshiarpur: Members of the Sikh family who were abducted in the US state of California, living in Punjab, are in shock. Four members of the family, including an eight-year-old girl, were abducted there. This Sikh family belongs to Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. US police have detained a 48-year-old man on suspicion in this case, who is seriously injured. However, the family is yet to be traced.

The vehicle of one of the abducted members was found set on fire by the police on Monday night. The family was abducted from Merced County on Monday. Eight-year-old Aruhi Dhari, her 27-year-old mother Jasleen Kaur, 36-year-old father Jasdeep Singh and 39-year-old Taya Amandeep Singh are missing.

Police received information on Tuesday morning that the bank card of one of the family members had been used in Atwater, Merced County.

It is worth mentioning that Jasdeep’s parents Dr. Randhir Singh and Kirpal Kaur are residents of Harsi village in Tanda block of Hoshiarpur. Charanjit Singh, a neighbour of Randhir Singh, said the family was in a state of shock and not in a position to talk. Randhir Singh is retired from the health department and Kirpal Kaur from the education department.

According to details, Randhir Singh had returned from the US on September 29. On his return, he went on a pilgrimage to Uttarakhand. When he reached Rishikesh, he received a call from his daughter-in-law Jaspreet Kaur from the US who informed about the incident.

Amandeep Singh is the husband of Jaspreet Kaur. On learning about the incident, Randhir Singh returned to the village and left for the US on Tuesday night. People from Harsi village and adjoining villages are coming to Randhir Singh’s house to express sympathy with the family and pray for the safe return of the missing members.

Central government assures help to family

Union Minister and Hoshiarpur MP Som Prakash has contacted Randhir Singh, father of missing Jasdeep and Amandeep, over phone and assured full help from the Central government. Tanda SP Kulwant Singh has also visited Randhir Singh’s house and assured him of all help.

The family did not receive any call related to the ransom

A family member said they have not received any ransom call so far. The charred car was found 20-25 km away from his family’s business office, he said. Mobile phones have also been found. Police had earlier expressed suspicion that the kidnapper was trying to destroy evidence. Police described the kidnapper as dangerous and armed.
