Amritsar: Punjab CM on Monday visited Village Khuali in District Amritsar near Indo-Pak border to enquire about the wellbeing of the border area farmers. He relished the traditional Punjabi dinner including MAKKI DI ROTI and SARSON KA SAAG with a family in the village.
He interacted with the farmers to know about the problems being encountered by the farmers and came to know that even those having 15 acres of land are not able to make both ends meet.
The farmers apprised the Chief Minister that how with the families expanding the land holdings are diminishing with each passing day. He also took their suggestions on how to make Agriculture a profitable venture and how to ensure better and effective management of the paddy straw.
The Chief Minister observed that extravagant marriages are the root cause of the ever increasing stranglehold of debt on the farmers. Hence, he advocated simple marriage ceremonies.
The Chief Minister also enquired after the health of the old age people and the education of the children.
