Punjab Elections Live: Polling begins in 117 constituencies

Chandigarh: Punjab Assembly Elections 2022.  A total of 1,304 candidates, including 93 women and two transgenders, are in the fray for the high-stake electoral contest in the state.

-A clash broke out between workers of BJP and AAP at Jalloo Kee village in Ferozepur (urban) constituency. One AAP worker Surjit Singh sustained minor injuries. Police rushed to the spot and situation is under control, officials said.

-Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that Congress will form government with 2/3rd majority in Punjab. He is contesting from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur constituencies.

– 49. 81% voting till 3 PM in Punjab

– Aam Aadmi Party candidate Labh Singh Ugoke’s vehicle was attacked by some people. The accused ran after their vehicle and later attacked a youth climbed on to the bonnet of their vehicle and damaged the vehicle.

AAP candidate is contesting against chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi in Bhadaur. Police are investigating the case.

-The polling for the Assembly in Punjab is going peacefully. Till 1 pm, 34.10 per cent voting has been recorded.

The highest number of votes were polled in Fazilka and the lowest in Mohali.

-SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal, his wife Harsimrat Kaur and daughter cast their votes. Badal said Akali will form government with a thumping majority.

-SAD leader Parkash Singh Badal, 94, casts vote in Lambi and said law and order, peace and communal harmony will remain the priority of the SAD.

– Bhagwant Mann says people of Punjab voting for truth and change, AAP will get majority.

-PLC chief and former chief minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh along with wife and family exercise their franchise in Patiala. He says Congress will be wiped out from state.

-Congress MP and Qadian Congress candidate Partap Singh Bajwa cast his vote in Gurdaspur.

– Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori and his IAS wife Gagan Kundra exercised their right to vote at the polling booth at Government Kanya Senior Secondary Smart School, Ladowali Road.

-Commission Punjab has come to a standstill due to a technical glitch. IT team is working on to resolve the issue soon, officials said.

– Amritsar’s conjoined twins Sohna and Mohna, the first-time voters, cast their votes separately on Sunday morning. They have turned 18 only last year.

-A groom casts his vote before tie the knot in Kapurthala. The district has recorded nearly 10 % polling till 10.30 AM.

-Congress leader Sunil Jakhar seen standing in the line to cast his vote at a polling station in Abohar.

-AAP chief minister face Bhagwant Mann exercised his franchise in Mohali and appealed people to come out in large numbers to cast vote.

-Congress candidate from Amritsar East Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife Navjot Kaur exercised their franchise.

-Give your vote to the one who supports people, answers fearlessly. Vote for the progressive future of Punjab,” Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.

– The polling began from 8 am and will continue till 6 pm. Th counting will take place on March 10.

-Capt Amarinder Singh will cast his vote in polling booth at Government College for Women, Patiala, opposite YPS School at 11.30 am.
