Chandigarh: A day Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to cut shot his visit in Punjab amid allegations of security lapse, Punjab government has constituted a high-level committee to do a thorough probe into the lapses on Wednesday.
The committee would comprise Justice Mehtab Singh Gill (retd) and Principal Secretary, Home Affairs and Justice, Anurag Verma.
The committee to submit its report in three days, the spokesperson said.
Earlier, the prime minister’s convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protesters in Ferozepur on Wednesday for almost 20 minutes after which he returned from poll-bound Punjab without attending any event, including a rally and BJP party termed it a major security lapse.
Chief minister Charanjeet Singh Channi, however, denied the allegations and said that it was just a cover up by BJP to hide its organised floop rally in Ferozepur.
