Toronto: A Quebec Provincial Police officer, who had gone to arrest a man in in Louiseville, west of Trois-Rivieres, Que, died after being stabbed.
Suret du Québec (SQ) confirmed that the officer, identified as Sergeant Maureen Brew, had been working in the police department for more than 20 years.
She was posted to the post of MRC de Maskinonge. Another police officer was also injured in the incident but his life is said to be out of danger.
Brew and her porter were trying to arrest a 35-year-old man who made threats near St. Am Street and St. Laurent Avenue around 8:30 p.m. This was revealed in the preliminary information provided by Quebec’s Independent Investigations Bureau, BEI.
Meanwhile, two other police officers present at the scene opened fire and killed suspect on the spot. Montreal police have also launched an investigation into the matter.
