New Delhi: A day after the Kisan Mahapanchayat, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked Bhartiya kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait and said that he has defamed farmers by politicising the three-farm issue for his self-interest.
BJP Kisan Morcha national chief and Lok Sabha member from Fatehpur Sikri, Rajkumar Chahar said that Tikait is fulfilling his political ambitions through this farmers’ protest.
He said that most of the participants in the Kisan Mahapanchayat in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar on Sunday were political workers of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and other political parties.
“Most of participants of yesterday’s event were workers of the SP, RLD and other political parties and farmers stayed away from mahapanchayat. These so-called leaders did not speak about farmers’ real issues,” Chahar said.
He said that Tikait is using farmers to fulfill his political dreams with support of some political parties who have been misleading people over the new farm laws.
He said that this was a political rally but not a farmers mahapanchayat ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
