Moscow: A Russian court has fined Google 7.2bn roubles ($98m; £73m) for repeated failure to delete content deemed illegal in Russia.
This is the first time in Russia that a technology giant has been hit with a fine based on their annual turnover.
Moscow has increased pressure on big tech this year in a campaign that critics characterise as an attempt by Russian authorities to exert tighter control over the internet, something they say threatens individual and corporate freedom.
Meanwhile, the Google authorities told that company would study the court ruling before deciding on further steps.
