Chandigarh: Punjab Police AIG Raj Jeet Singh, who was sacked in connection with a Rs 6,000-crore drug smuggling case, has gone underground. In search of him, the Special Task Force (STF) raided his house in Mohali Sector 69 yesterday but he was not found. A day earlier, the STF had also issued a lookout circular against Rajjit Singh.
The STF has booked Raj Jit Singh for criminal conspiracy and extortion besides preparing false records with the intention of protecting sacked inspector Inderjeet from punishment. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann directed DGP Gaurav Yadava to take action against top police officials who helped Inderjeet, who is in jail.
The DGP has submitted its investigation report to ADGP RK Jaiswal. He has been asked to submit his report within a month. According to the information, Inderjit Singh was an inspector of the CIA staff. In 2017, he was arrested in an arms and drug trafficking case. When his house was searched, an AK-47 was found in his house.
Apart from this, 4 kg heroin, 3 kg smack and foreign weapons were also recovered from him. Rajjit tried to save Indrajit in this whole case. Many irregularities were detected in the records.
Meanwhile, the STF has registered an FIR against Rajjit under sections 120B, 218 and 384 of the IPC and sections 59 and 39 of the NDPS Act.
