Patiala: An alleged sacrilege attempt was made at the historic ‘Mata Kali’ temple in Patiala, on Monday.
Police officials said that they had already arrested the accused and an FIR was being lodged under relevant sections.
Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi strongly condemned the sacrilege attempt at Shri Kali Devi Temple in Patiala on Monday.
CM Channi said that he is deeply hurt and saddened over the incident.
“Bad elements are attempting to create a mayhem by disturbing hard earned peace & harmony of the Punjab ahead of the assembly elections in Punjab,” he said, urging people to maintain peace and communal harmony in the state.
He also asked Punjabis to stay united in protecting all religious centres across the Punjab.
According to the information, a sacrilege attempt was made at Shri Kali Devi Temple on Monday and accused was pounced by devotees and security personnel on the spot.
Local police rushed to the spot and detained the accused.
