Santa Claus effigies burnt in India’s Agra

New Delhi: In a bizarre incident that hurt sentiments of Christian Community, effigies of Santa Claus were burnt in Agra on the eve of Christmas.

Right wing activists, raising slogans against Santa and claiming the mythical figure to be part of a “strategy” by Christian missionaries to convert people, they burnt the effigies.

These effigies were then set ablaze while activists raised slogans like “Santa Claus Murdabad”.

The event occurred at the intersection of St John’s College and Mahatma Gandhi Marg.

A parade led by members of the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad and the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal carried effigies of Santa Claus.

Meanwhile, the incident attracted a sharp criticism from various sections on the social media across the country and many demanded legal action against people seen in the viral video.
