London: Seven ancient artefacts, including a stone door square stolen from a temple in UP, will be returned to India by the Museum of Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Life, the body that manages the city’s museums, had earlier this year confirmed that the artworks had been returned.

On Friday, in the presence of India’s Acting High Commissioner to the UK Sujit Ghosh, a ceremony was held at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to formally hand over these artworks to India. Now the way has been cleared to send back seven ancient artefacts back to India.

These include an Indo-Persian sword, believed to date back to the 14th century, while the stone carved door of a temple in Kanpur in the 11th century is also included.
