London: Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed that Scottish child payments will be increased to £25 a week.

The First Minister has confirmed that Scottish child payments will increase from £20 per week to £25 by end of this year.

Children under the age of 6 have been paid £84 million for low-income families since it was started in February last year and now more than 100,000 children benefit from it.

The hike will take place in November and the payment will be available to all eligible children below the age of 16 years. The increase was back to £20 in April after the Scottish government doubled the previous £10.

The Government of Scotland has announced that this change will come into effect from 14 November. Nicola Sturgeon says that the U.K. Children in Scotland have a better standard of living in terms of child poverty across the country.

We had doubled the amount from £10 a week to £20 a week in April. Now increasing from 20 pounds to 25 pounds means that in just 8 months there has been an increase of 150%.
