Ottawa: Cold grip is going to be strong in many parts of Ontario this week. By Sunday night, the northern and southern regions of the province are expected to receive up to 60 cm of snow.

Environment Canada has issued a warning of heavy snow for areas along the eastern tip of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, as well as Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. At the same time, people have also been asked to take precautions. A warning has also been issued for a snowstorm in these areas this weekend.

Canada’s weather agency has also warned of up to 60 cm of snow by Sunday night for Niagara, Kingston-Prince Edward, Gray-Bruce and Perry Sound Muskoka. Environment Canada has asked drivers in these areas to exercise caution while driving, adding that they may face problems on the roads and during this time blizzards may also reduce the visibility.

Areas adjoining the GTA and the Barry area are likely to receive 15 to 20 cm of snow.

Toronto is one of the most affected areas in the province, but it is unlikely to receive much snow. But the temperature may drop significantly. Meanwhile, a snowstorm has also been predicted in Buffalo.

New York Governor Kathleen Hochul declared a state of emergency on Thursday ahead of the storm.
