Chandigarh: SGPC junior vice president Principal Surinder Singh passed away late on Monday night due to cardiac arrest. He was rushed to Bhai Jaita ji Civil Hospital late on Monday night at about 12.18 pm due to a seizure, where doctors declared him brought dead at about 12.18 pm.
He was 66 years old and a few years ago he underwent a kidney transplant due to kidney disease. His last rites will be performed on Tuesday at 4 pm at Charan Ganga Samshan Ghat, Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Principal Surinder Singh was appointed SGPC member from reserved constituency Sri Anandpur Sahib (Dohra) seat by the Shiromani Akali Dal in 2011. Since 1973, he was engaged in the service of propagating Sikhism. Till 1992, he continued to serve at the Visually Impaired Khalsa Music Academy, Sri Anandpur Sahib. Since 1995, the founder and principal of the Sikh Missionary College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, had also been working.
