Melbourne: Shooting will return to the 2026 Commonwealth Games to be held in Victoria, Australia, while wrestling and archery have been excluded.

While the return of shooting in these games is a welcome step for India, it is disappointing to exclude wrestling there.

Shooting was dropped from the list of previous games held in Birmingham. The absence of wrestling will hurt the team.

India won 12 medals in wrestling at the Birmingham Games. Archery, on the other hand, has been a part of the Commonwealth Games only twice. It became a part of the Games in 1982 and 2010.
