New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old Amritdhari (baptised) Sikh, has been asked by a Bengaluru based institution to not wear the turban when on campus.

The incident has led to political storm as Karnataka is already continuing to witness protests against students not being allowed to attend classes in hijab and opposition is terming it an attack on freedom of religion.

According to the information, a young Sikh girl allegedly asked by Mount Carmel PU College, Bengaluru, to not wear turban in college citing the high court’s order on February 16, after it reopened as it asked Muslim girls to not wear Hijab and also directed Sikhs that religious attire will not be allowed to wear while on the campus.

Meanwhile, Campus Front of India (CFI) on Thursday condemned the college act.
