New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea challenging the grant of permission to Sikhs to travel wearing gatra during domestic flights across the country.
A public interest litigation (PIL) had challenged the Centre’s notification allowing Sikh pilgrims to travel with gatras. The notification stipulates that the length of the journey should not exceed 9 inches.
The high court had on December 15 reserved its verdict on the petition. A division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad said, “How can we interfere in such a policy decision? We can’t interfere. This is a policy decision of the Government of India.”
