Chandigarh: Amid ongoing protest by farmers and blockage of some important roads connecting to NCR regions against farm laws, the Haryana Government has told the Supreme Court that it was making “sincere” efforts to remove the blockade for resumption of free flow of traffic.
“Sincere efforts are being taken to convince farmers to lift the blockage from highways and to resume traffic flow on those roads for the convenience of the general,” the Haryana Government said in an affidavit filed in the top court.
The government further said that regular meetings deliberations were being held by the administrations with farmers’ organisations to convince them to remove protest from roads.
” Astate-level committee headed by the Additional Chief Secretary was also formed and a meeting called by the government on September 19 meeting wasn’t attended by the farmers’ leaders.”
Earlier, the UP Government had also submitted in an affidavit and told the court that the government is making efforts to convince farmers to remove blocking from roads those causing grave inconvenience to commuters.
While hearing a petition, the Bench led by Justice SK Kaul had on August 23 asked the Centre and governments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to find a solution to the blockade of roads.
