London: In a relief for Punjabi diaspora and local industry, Chandigarh International Airport may began a direct flight to London from October.
The Chandigarh administration officials had a meeting with British High Commission in this regard. A proposal has been sent and it is expected to start direct flight from October, said a senior official. The proposal was also pushed Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher.
According to the proposal, the flight would be to the Heathrow Airport in London or Birmingham airport.
Chandigarh International airport was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi six years ago but it has yet only two international flights including two international flights – to Sharjah and Dubai, which were also stalled many times recently due to Covid-19 pandemic.
