Spain cancels visas of 21 Indian wrestlers

New Delhi: The Spanish embassy has denied visas to 21 Indian wrestlers. It suspects that these wrestlers will not return to India before the expiry of their visas after participating in the Under-23 World Championships that began in Pontevedra. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) gave this information today.

The WFI had sent the names of the 30-member squad for the championship in Spain, but only nine people’s visas were approved. U-20 women’s world champion Final Panghal also did not get a visa. WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar said the wrestling federation received the letter regarding cancellation of visas only today.
