New Delhi: The last match of the three-match Test series between Australia and South Africa is being played in Sydney. Here Steve Smith has registered a big record in his name.
He scored a century in Australia’s first innings on the second day of the match, beating legendary cricketer Don Bradman’s record of 29 Test centuries. Steve Smith now has a total of 30 Test centuries to his name.
Steve Smith has now reached the joint third position with Matthew Hayden in terms of scoring the most Test centuries for Australia.
Ricky Ponting (41) is at number one and Steve Waugh (32) is at number two. By the way, Smith is jointly ranked 12th in terms of scoring the most centuries in overall Tests. Sachin Tendulkar is at number one here. Sachin has scored 51 centuries in his Test career.
Steve Smith could not achieve so many milestones in T20 and ODIs, but in Test cricket, he is constantly scoring runs. He has so far scored 8647 runs in 92 Test matches in 162 innings at an average of 60.89.
The special thing is that Smith comes second after Don Bradman in terms of batting average among the top-50 batsmen who have scored the most runs in Tests.
